WHO ARE WE?

  • Knowledge and Evidence Hub: The ASM Learning Group evolved into a trusted platform for generating, documenting, and disseminating evidence-based knowledge on ASM governance, occupational health and safety, environmental management, formalization, gender equality, livelihoods, and crisis resilience.
  • Global Recognition: Several research papers, policy briefs, training resources, and field-based knowledge products developed by SRADHA were recognized internationally and published on the Delve Platform, contributing to the global evidence base on responsible and inclusive ASM.
  • Large-Scale Outreach: Through capacity-building programmes, awareness campaigns, digital learning initiatives, community engagement, and stakeholder partnerships, the initiative directly and indirectly reached more than 200,000 artisanal and small-scale miners across Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, while engaging government agencies, mining communities, civil society organizations, researchers, financial institutions, and development partners.
  • Knowledge Dissemination: The programme produced and widely disseminated a substantial portfolio of technical manuals, policy guidance notes, training modules, research publications, IEC materials, multimedia resources, and community education tools that strengthened institutional learning across the ASM ecosystem.
  • Women’s Leadership: Recognizing the critical contribution of women in ASM, the initiative facilitated the formation of an ASM Women Association, creating a platform for leadership, gender inclusion, entrepreneurship, occupational safety, and collective advocacy.
  • Institutional Evolution: Building upon six years of field experience, research excellence, and strategic partnerships, the ASM Learning Group has now evolved into ASM Academy—a dedicated centre of excellence committed to advancing evidence-based policy, institutional strengthening, professional capacity development, innovation, and sustainable transformation of artisanal and small-scale mining ecosystems in India and beyond.

Our goal is to achieve an enabling environment for the ASM sector, which provides secure and dignified livelihoods for vulnerable people involved in ASM activities. We will work for empowerment of ASM workers by promoting collaboration among sector actors, and to ensure sustainable development outcomes.
